The first documented performance at the venue was the Grand Opening of the Garden of the Titans, put on by famed editor John Brisben Walker on May 31, 1906. At 6,450 feet above sea level, Red Rocks' diverse environment allows visitors to see plants, birds, and animals from both regions. Red Rocks offers a variety of recreation options for a summer concert series, biking, hiking, dining, shopping, and guided tours. The amphitheater has undergone some major renovations since its opening (first renovated in 1936, then April 2019). The architecture of the venue is designed by Burnham Hoyt. The Red Rocks Amphitheatre is owned and operated by the City and County of Denver. The theatre was built and opened for the general public in 1906. The seating capacity of the venue is around 9,525, with a uniquely located stage surrounded by incredible red rocks.
